Presenter Jonathan Ross has announced today that he is to leave the BBC after 13 years.

Ross is one of the broadcasters highest paid faces, presenting his own BBC One chat show, a Radio 2 show as well and a film review programme.

In a statement made this morning, Ross said that he had decided not to renew his contact when it runs out in July and insisted the move was not motivated by money, despite rumours of pay cuts.
His resignation comes just a year after he was suspended for 12 weeks after broadcasting obscene messages along with comic Russell Brand on the answerphone of actor Andrew Sachs.

Following his departure in the summer, Ross will continue hosting special BBC programmes such as the Bafta Film Awards and Comic Relief.
