About me
I am a 19-year-old Liverpudlian with a lifelong unquenchable passion for the television industry and an abundance of early presenting experience.
My first on-screen break came at the age of 14, appearing as a regular panelist across two series of Channel 4's new Question Time-style live debate show, EFOURUM. For E4's debut series of Big Brother's Big Mouth in 2005, I was invited to write and present my own ten-part strand, The Connell Files, followed by Jon Connell: The History Man for the subsequent Celebrity season.
Aside from acting as BBBM's roving reporter and presenting my own strand on Channel 4 Radio's Celebrity Big Brother Podcast, in 2006 I was given the opportunity to conceive and perform Connell's Contraptions - a strand of live, improvised comedy sketches for BBBM - alongside Russell Brand. The live comedy sketch slot continued throughout the 2007 Celebrity season.
I am also a writer, usually with one project or other on the go at any one time, and worked as a columnist for national showbiz gossip magazine Sneak in 2005/6.
My proudest achievement has been devising, producing and hosting my own award-winning north-west talent show, The MTX Factor, to generate funds for St Joseph's Hospice in Thornton. The two events played to sell-out crowds of 700 per night, raising a total of £14,000 for Jospice and showcasing some amazing, previously untapped talent.
Having recently left school with four A Levels, I am planning to use my gap year to forge ahead with my presenting career, relishing every new challenge along the way.
