Impartiality Issues
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/6979596.stm
"The BBC has scrapped plans for Planet Relief, a TV special on climate change. The decision comes after executives said it was not the BBC's job to lead opinion on climate change."
Is this a sign of things to come? How many other issues will the BBC step away from because of impartiality concerns? Where will the line be drawn?

The ratings are a good point, it can't be cheap to put on these kind of events. Mind you I wonder how much it has cost to scrap the event at that point of development? Given all the recent news I guess everyone has to be super careful about appearing hypocritical. |

I think it's a sign that Live Earth got 3.1m peak on BBC1 - Eurovision got 10.9m for the Beeb. Is everyone a bit special evented out? Live Earth led to a lot of open goals in terms of comedians pointing out the carbon footprint of jetsetting rock stars or even the energy used up if everyone watched telly - maybe they're just scared a big climate change special will lead to the same cynicism. |
