+1 channels and Sky+

The bbc website currently has a poll up asking whether people "find 'plus one' services like Channel 4+1 useful?". As I type the results are 82% "yes, I always miss shows" and 18% "No, watch it first time". Are you surprised by those numbers, do you expect more people to be using Sky+ and similar services for more control over scheduling?

Louisa, why do you think people who read the BBC News website don't have Sky+? Just curious..

It doesn't surprise me that 82% said yes. I myself am always using ITV2 +1 and E4+1 to catch up on programs or to watch programs at a time thats most convenient for me. But I'm not sure what the shelf life of these services will be. It seems to me that they're only going to be a stepping stone from main stream TV to future 'on demand' services.

Louisa: I'd love to see further breakdowns on the bbc website polls. I always find myself wanting a third option ;0)

I think the % would be high for "yes, I always miss shows" because it's the BBC and most people probably don't have Sky+ who visit the BBC website. It would be very interesting to see the demo breakdown of the poll. As awareness grows I'm sure the results would be more 50/50. Out of choice I think people would prefer to Sky+ a show to watch when they like and as Ally says to forward through ads rather than watching an hour later.

Definitely, especially as you are given the ability to forward through ads...
