Introduced by Evan Davis from Dragons' Den

Ever wondered how programmes get commissioned?

Was Who Wants To Be A Millionaire really pitched dozens of times before it was finally picked up by ITV?

How hard can it be to pitch your idea to a panel of experts in TV?

How To Pitch will show RTS Futures members the most toe-curling pitches from the Dragons' Den, from freezing up, to ideas that are just plain ridiculous, and hear the experiences of our panel on the pitfalls of pitching programme ideas. This session will demystify the process of how a programme idea ends up on our screens and provide you with a comprehensive guide of what’s hot and what’s not in TV today.  Plus top tips on how to give a successful pitch under pressure.

I thought the event itself was really informative. I loved how informal it was, and was pleased to be inside the Blue peter studios. However, as a host for the event, i think the BBC were quite poor. Having come straight from work, and being told to skip the queue outside, we were still left waiting for a long time in the rain. My expectations were to then be taken to a bar or something to encourage some networking and to meet aquantances, (as with other events), but were hurried straight into the venue without any offering of a drink of water even.
